Chronicles of Squidgyboo!

Just a quick photo post- hope everyone is well.

I’m not complaining- just saying.

We made it ok- no thanks to AirFrance.  If you can avoid flying with them please do!  Part of the flying brewhaha might have had something to do with the fact that I was travelling on Bastille day AND it was a Monday. Yah, not a good combination- just saying.

Some observations.

There are A LOT fewer people driving.  Like really really a lot fewer (yes I’m chanelling Lola of Charlie and Lola).

Does the food network show you actual food shows?  Granted I haven’t watched anything until after 10pm so maybe it’s a timing thing. I’m just missing the Barefoot Contessa and Giada- are they even still on the network??

I am WHIIIITE!  I had forgotten how tanned and fab everyone gets during the summer.  In the UK they go from pasty to *danger* *danger* BURNTTOAFREAKINGCRISP *danger* danger* in one afternoon.

No pictures yet- I’ve been too busy enjoying the sun OOOOOH GLORIOUS SUN!!  Sorry a bit of tuorettes.

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer and keeping gool or getting nice and brown- whatever your flavor of summer is!

Oh and another observation or rather a statement.  Ooooh boy am I glad I’m on ‘holiday’ during Blogher and the immediate aftermath of all the fun.  It’s just makes for really boring blog reading for those of us not attending but hey I’m glad the attendees enjoy it.

One last thing, please keep me in your thoughts.  I am (more accurately my mother) going to attempt potty training this week.  According to my mother I was completely potty trained by 18 months.  Although my daughter isn’t as clever (according to my mother) as I was she still thinks we can do it before she goes to Portugal.  Soo I’m letting her do it- I don’t think it can be done but hell if the woman wants to try it I don’t have anything to lose!

One very last thing, sorry for the typos.  My spellcheck isn’t working and I’m too damn tired to fix anything.

I know when I’ll be back again. Wal FINALLY booked our flight and I’ll be basking in the Massachusetts summer by Monday night.

I’ll be away for 4 weeks- 1 week with my parents, 2 weeks w/out my parents and 1 week on CC w/ my BFF! I don’t know what time my flight arrives but it will be in the afternoon. I turn into a complete consumer whore when I go to the US and have a HUGE list already. I’m off to JL to pick up a suitcase for Squidge as she now has a luggage allowance- the ONLY benefit of her turning 2 and having to pay for her seat!

I’m sure I’ll be blogging while I’m away- as long as my parents computer isn’t riddled w/ viruses.

I also want to wish Wendy good luck. She’s taking her bar exam sometime this month. I’m sure she’ll do well- she always does. I’ve never met someone more determined! She went to Law School on a full scholarship, managed to keep that scholarship while raising 3 kids and a hubby and she DIDN’T go nuts- much.

An update on the driveway sage. I have been putting the trash bin at the end of the driveway- with a bit of it on the road. I started doing this after someone parked their car blocking us out on Friday. They didn’t move the car until I called the police on Saturday night. The police had to call them and ask them to move it. No ticket just a friendly call. GRRRR!! The bin stops people from just willy nilly parking and blocking me in/out. It has worked really well. It’s a bit of a pain having to move the bin into place and out of the way but the alternative is aneurysm inducing.

The only people that have tried to move the bin have been women. It pains me to say this as I consider myself a femanist but what the hell is is about young attractive women?? You know the type that bee-bops down the road thinking they poop ice cream. I have caught these women trying to move the bin. HELLOOOOO!! WTF do you think you’re doing?? Don’t you LOOOOK??? Can’t you SEEEEEEEE that the bin is in front of a drive way??? Does it ever register in that vacant head of yours to wonder what a bin is doing there?? Perhaps glance around at your surroundings and realize it’s a DRIVEWAY!!! GRRRRR!!!

OK, rant over.

Been wracking my brain trying to remember what I did this weekend. Then I uploaded my photos from the weekend and it all came back to me. How sad am I?!!?!! I can’t remember a thing w/out some form of visual aide. Is this a sign of old age?? If it is I don’t want to know.

Saturday we walked into the village to pick up Wal a man sized steak from the butchers. On the way home we stopped off at the pub and had a couple of pints.

The last time we did this Squidge was such a little shit we said we’d never do it again. Fast forward 2 months and the memory of the trauma has faded and we try it again. She was fantastic. Of course I did bring cake in a desperate attempt to soothe the beast. It worked. Hey don’t judge me! So that folks was the extent of my super exciting weekend.

Wal is still dithering about with my flight and hasn’t booked it yet. The plan, at least in my head, is to fly home on the 14th so that I can spend some time with my parents can spend time with Squidge before they leave for Portugal. Will keep everyone updated on the great booking a flight drama ‘08.
